KDA Children's Dental Health Month Campaign

The KDA is holding its annual Drawing Contest and Class Project Contest. 
All third-grade students in Kansas are invited to participate! 
All entries are due:

Friday, March 22nd, 2024!

The KDA Council on Children's Dental Health normally targets the third-grade population because there is already a dental health unit in their science curriculum.

Each February, the Kansas Dental Association participates in the National Children’s Dental Health Month (NCDHM) campaign.

This month-long national health observance brings together thousands of dedicated dental professionals, healthcare providers, and educators to promote the benefits of good dental health to children, their caregivers, teachers, and many others.

Class Project Contest: Up to $500 prize!

Teachers, Nurses, and Other School Personnel!
Help your students create a class project depicting this year's theme: "Healthy Habits for Healthy Smiles!" Enter your project for a chance to win a $100, $250, or even $500 gift card to buy supplies for your classroom!

Class Project Contest Rules

• Be Creative! Integrate art, technology, science, music, PE, or any of your other favorite subjects to show us how you're promoting good dental health practices in the 3rd grade classroom! Feel free to include other school staff.

• Be bold! Make a 2-3 minute video production or slide show and send your submission to KDA Communications Coordinator, Sandra Romero, by email at sandra@ksdental.org or by standard mail by Friday, March 1, 2024.

• Be you! Your creativity will be on display on the KDA web site and social media pages! Visit ksdental.org for contest updates, and don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter!

Drawing Contest: $50 student prize, $100 teacher prize!

Drawing Contest Rules

  • This contest is open to all THIRD (3rd) grade students enrolled in the 2023-2024 school year across the state of Kansas.
  • Each student must submit an original drawing depicting the theme, "Healthy Habits for Healthy Smiles!"
  • Entries are to be submitted on the drawing entry form on this page.
  • Drawings may be done in pencil, marker, watercolor, or crayon. Don’t forget to include the student's name, teacher's name and phone number, and school name on the bottom of the entry form.
  • Entries must be submitted no later than Friday, March 1, 2024.

Selection Process:

Each KDA Dental District Chairperson will choose the top entry from their area. The KDA will then send a $50 gift card to the winning students to be spent on whatever they like! As a “thank you” for including dental health in your curriculum, we will also send a $100 gift card to the teacher of the winning student to buy classroom supplies or help with the cost of activities!

Winners will be notified on or around late March. Regretfully, no entries can be returned. Entries may be used for promotional purposes on the KDA web site and social media pages.

How to Submit Your Student's Drawing

Scan and upload your drawing contest submission below.
You can submit all your class' drawings as one PDF file or individually (note: you'll have to upload each time if doing individual student files.)
