Dr. Fales Succeeds Dr. Hechler As KDA President, Dr. Armfield Elected Vice-President
At the 145th meeting of the KDA General Assembly on Saturday, April 9, Dr. John T. Fales, Jr. (Fifth District) became the 139th President (some early KDA Presidents served multiple years) of the Kansas Dental Association. In his comments after accepting the gavel, Dr. Fales thanked Dr. Hechler for his service and said it was important for him leave the KDA better a year from now. He also challenged the membership to use their time and talents to improve the KDA as well.
In the KDA officer elections, Dr. Melodee Armfield (Seventh District) was elected Vice President. Having previously served as both KDA Secretary and KDA Treasurer, Dr. Armfield will now move up the officer chairs and will serve as the 2018-19 President of the KDA. Dr. Jon Siebrasse (Southeast District) was elected KDA Treasurer while Dr. Allen Reavis (First District) was elected KDA Secretary. Congratulations!
Dr. Nick Rogers (Southern District) is now President-elect while Dr. Steve Hechler (Fifth District) completes his duties on the Executive Committee as Immediate Past President.
Dr. Hale Reelected ADA Alternate/Delegate
The KDA Board of Delegates elected Dr. Hal Hale as KDA Alternate Delegate and Delegate to the American Dental Association House of Delegates. Dr. Hale was elected to a second term as an ADA Alternate Delegate/Delegate (2+2 Position) expiring on April 30, 2020. Dr. Hale was first elected ADA Alternate Delegate/Delegate in 2012 after serving in the Kansas ADA Delegation from 2009-11 as Secretary, Alternate Delegate and Delegate while moving up the chairs to KDA President. Dr. Hale is currently a member of the ADA Council on Dental Practice.
Kansas’ ADA Delegation representing the KDA at the 2016 ADA House of Delegates Annual Session in Denver is as follows:
Delegates: Dr. John Fales, Dr. Bert Oettmeier, Dr. Craig Herre and Dr. Brett Roufs
Alternate Delegates: Dr. Nick Roufs, Dr. Cindi Sherwood and Dr. Hal Hale
ADA Secretary: Dr. Melodee Armfield
Kansas is allotted four ADA delegates based on membership size to serve in the ADA House of Delegates and is in the ADA’s Twelfth Trustee District along with Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. Kansas’ 2+2 delegates position is unique as delegates are elected to a four-year term…serving the first and second years of the term as an alternate delegate to the ADA and the third and fourth years of the term as a full ADA delegate.
