KDA Hosts Another Successful Real World Transition Brunch
The Kansas Dental Association held another successful Real World Transition Brunch event on Friday, April 8, at the Sheraton at Crown Center in Kansas City, MO, in accordance with the Midwest Dental Conference.
About 95 current UMKC dental students were in attendance; in addition, 20 KDA member dentists and 20 professional representatives came from across Kansas seeking associates or selling a practice.
Booths were set-up by professional guests: KDHE Bureau of Oral Health, Wichita AEGD, Aftco Practice Transition Management, Johnston Fiss Insurance, Guardian Insurance, Tax Favored Benefits, UMB Bank, New Horizons Dental Practice Management, and Dental Centers. Kevin Robertson, Jennifer Jones, and Niki Sadler, of the Kansas Dental Association, also provided students with information on ADA/KDA membership and the Kansas Initiative for New Dentists (KIND) scholarship and loan forgiveness program.
Students were given punch cards, and as they visited different booths, the exhibitor would punch a hole in the card. If students visited at least 5 of the 9 booths, they were entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $200 Gift Card to the Country Club Plaza.
Pete Ziegler, UMKC School of Dentistry class of 2018, was chosen as the winner of the gift card. Congratulations, Pete!
When notified that he had won the drawing, Pete replied, “Thank you guys so much! Many of my friends and I commented on how much we enjoyed the RWTB. I look forward to doing that again.”
Attendees should look for a follow-up list of dentists/students in their email in the next few days for further networking.
