KanCare 2.0 Public Forums Scheduled for November 14-20, 2017

Apr 8, 2024

Public hearings about KanCare 2.0 will be held across the state next week. The hearings will offer Kansas providers and consumers the opportunity to share input about the plan to renew the KanCare managed care program.

When KanCare began in 2013, a value-added preventive dental benefit was offered to all adults enrolled in KanCare. Now, it is time to provide feedback about that benefit and what you would like to see in KanCare 2.0.

The public hearing schedule is below. Plan to participate in a meeting near you or on one of the two conference calls listed. When you participate, please consider offering these comments about the need for adult dental services in KanCare:

  1. KanCare 2.0 should include the current value-added preventive dental benefit for adults.
  2. A basic set of dental services need to be covered for all adults, including diagonostic and periodontic services, medications, teledental services, and minor restorative services. The Kansas Dental Association, Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved, and Oral Health Kansas will share a list of the codes we believe need to be covered.
  3. In order to ensure adults are able to make use of these services, the rates paid for KanCare dental services need to be addressed. The rates for restorative and other services have not been adjusted since the 1990s, and the low reimbursement rates are leading to a shrinking dental provider network.
