Apr 8, 2024

On Friday, May 4, 2018, several KDA staff members were in attendance for an all-school assembly at Lincoln Elementary School in Hays, KS.

The KDA presented Larissa Whitney, Julie Mohi, and their third grade students with the first place prize for their winning Children’s Dental Health Month Class Project Contest entry, “Dental Health Rap." (watch now)

At 1:00 PM, students, teachers, staff members, and parents filled the school gymnasium. First, the presentation was displayed on the projector for the audience to view.

Students cheered as their classmates recited facts about dental health to the tune of upbeat hip-hop music, while others in the video danced, tumbled, and practiced various sports.

Cheers and applause then echoed through out the gymnasium as students of all ages congratulated the third graders on a job well done.

Niki Sadler, KDA Director of Operations, thanked the Lincoln Elementary students and faculty for their hard work in creating the project and promoting good dental health.

She then awarded Ms. Whitney and Ms. Mohi with a commemorative plaque from the KDA to honor the students’ outstanding work, as well as a $500 Visa gift card to be used on classroom activities or supplies.

The teachers expressed that they had several exciting field trips planned before the end of the school year.

The third grade students at Lincoln Elementary School demonstrated outstanding creativity and truly made learning about dental health fun, which is what the KDA’s Class Project Contest is all about!
